Description: Gender is often taken-for-granted in everyday life, yet it is one of the most salient dimensions of social inequality. This course will use feminist theory to analyze the social construction of sex and gender. This course will pay attention to how gender intersects with other systems of power such as race, class, and sexual orientation to shape individual interactions, institutions, and larger social forces in both the U.S. and global contexts.
