Description: The sociological study of mental disorder and well-being in American society. The course emphasizes the study of the prevalence and the incidence of disorder, and theories of its causation. Attention is also given to family and societal reactions to the impaired, and how these responses and definitions influence legal processes, treatment, and illness severity. Social policy is discussed.
Enrollment Requirements: Prerequisite: SOCIOL 101 (and SOCIOL 102 for sociology majors)
