Description: This undergraduate course provides an overview of the significant sociological perspectives, social issues, and social science research pertaining to the phenomenon of aging in society. During the semester we will deconstruct myths of aging and stereotypes about the aged, examine the roles we have constructed for older people in society and analyze the impact of gender, race and social class on the aging process in the United States. GERON 342L and SOCIOL 342L are the same course.
