Teaching of Spanish (Graduate Certificate)


The Graduate Certificate in the Teaching of Spanish


This 18-credit graduate certificate program has been designed to address the needs of pre-service and in-service teachers of Spanish to enhance their skills in the fields of Spanish language, literature, and culture.

While the certificate itself does not lead to teacher licensure, coursework from it may be counted toward professional licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and specifically toward the track for professional licensure in Spanish in the Teacher Education MEd Program.

The Track for Professional Licensure


The track for professional licensure in the Teacher Education MEd offers a program of study leading to professional licensure in Spanish. The program consists of courses in Spanish language, literature, culture, linguistics, and methods given by the Latin American and Iberian Studies Department and courses in pedagogy given by the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.   • Official transcripts from all schools attended
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Statement of intent
  • Application fee: $60 (domestic), $100 (international)

Non-matriculated students have the option of taking two courses in the program prior to completing an application for acceptance into the program.
