Gerontology, MS (Research/Policy track)

The master of science on-campus degree program in gerontology prepares students to assist the city of Boston, the state of Massachusetts, and the nation to address issues surrounding a diverse aging population.

The Gerontology Research Track focuses on research and policy issues. The curriculum  includes coursework in social science theories related to aging and research techniques. Students are provided with the tools to pursue basic and applied research in a range of substantive areas. Students are also introduced to the major policy issues affecting older people in the United States. This gives students the ability to engage with these issues in the public and private sectors.

The MS degree is designed to be a terminal degree. However, on occasion, students in the this program may be admitted into the Gerontology PhD Program. It is also possible that students who are admitted into the Gerontology Graduate Certificate Program may subsequently be admitted into the MS Program.
