Transnational, Cultural, and Community Studies, MS

Students complete 37 credits, including 10 courses (5 core, 5 electives), a Professional Seminar, and a Capstone Project. Full-time students can complete the MS degree in 2 years. All matriculated students, whether full- or part-time, must complete the MS degree within 5 years. Graduate seminars are scheduled in the late afternoon and evening (2.5 hours, once per week, typically 5:30-8:45 PM).

To complete requirements, MS in TCCS students can choose among 5 electives from across the campus, or among certificates in program evaluation, survey research, human services, or Gender, Leadership, and Public Policy, and other areas. The 1-credit Professional Seminar assesses and supports the development of the skills necessary for a successful graduate experience. The Capstone Project is designed to integrate student learning from the overall curriculum in relation to a TCCS-relevant topic of the student’s choice. Students seeking future PhD studies will be advised to pursue a research-based capstone project.
