Description: The course considers content, form and modes of expression in prose, poetry and criticism by black women writers from the eighteenth century to the present. Readings include slave narratives, colonial and abolitionist writings, works from the Harlem Renaissance and by contemporary writers such as Bambara, Sanchez, Walker, and Brooks.
