Description: This elective course introduces students to how economists analyze topics related to the demand for health care, health disparities, and the US health care delivery system using the tools of microeconomics. Students develop an understanding of asymmetric information, how health insurance contracts operate, and the role that government plays in the modern health care system. Students empirically analyze health care policies, and apply tools of cost-benefit analysis to understand the tradeoffs in improving efficiency and equity.
Enrollment Requirements: Prerequisite: ECON 201 or permission of instructor.
