Description: A study of the Canterbury Tales and, time permitting, some of Chaucer”s other works in the original Middle English. No prior knowledge of Chaucer, the period (the later fourteenth century), or Middle English is required. Taped readings aid in learning the language. Discussion emphasizes how the works reflect the medieval period and how Chaucer draws readers of all periods into intellectual and moral pilgrimages of their own.
Enrollment Requirements: Prerequisite: ENGL 200 or ENGL 201 or ENGL 202
