Description: This course places contemporary problems of labor - union decline, wage stagnation, rising inequality, rising insecurity - in the context of the history of U.S. capitalism. Major topics include income and wealth distribution, workplace power relations, labor radicalism, unemployment, race and gender discrimination, household labor, the welfare state, migration, and globalization. No prior study of economics is assumed.
