Description: This course is an introduction to the diverse cultures of the Andean region, which comprises the following countries: Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia and Chile. Topics considered include the significance of heritage, belief systems and religions, family structures, race relations, social and political institutions, and modes of production – all considered from an anthropological perspective. The course’s timeframe covers the entire modern era, from the 16th century to today.
