ENGL 102 - Composition II 3 Credit(s) | Lecture | Course can be counted for credit once
Description: Composition II is a more advanced course in critical reading and writing than Composition I; it is intended to help students prepare for their upper-level courses and the Writing Proficiency Requirement. Through sequenced assignments, students learn to sustain inquiries on particular themes or issues and to treat subjects from different perspectives, including their own. Through frequent reading and writing assignments, students learn to analyze the structures of essays and arguments so they are able to develop informed responses to them. As in Composition I, drafting and redrafting are emphasized. One of the course papers will be a researched essay that builds on course themes and issues. Note: English 102 satisfies the second half of the College’s first-year writing requirement.
