Description: An examination of the role of the public sector in the U.S. economy, focusing on expenditures and tax theory. Topics usually include: welfare economics and justification for government intervention in the market economy, and explanation of the federal budget, theories of growth in government, benefit/cost analysis, income redistribution theory, tax incidence, and the effect of different forms of taxation on consumption, labor supply, savings, and investment.
Enrollment Requirements: Prerequisites: ECON 102 and ECON 201 and MATH 129
