Description: Students in this course will critically evaluate the empirical evidence and methodological issues in a growing body of research that links religion and spirituality to various health outcomes across the lifespan including: coping with cancer and HIV/AIDS; mental illness including anxiety, depression, and schizophrenia; alcohol and drug use; and mortality. Students also will explore the effects of Western and Eastern religious and spiritual practices intended to promote physical and mental well-being.
