Description: A course for those who want a broad view of the sweep of Western drama, offering a study of the art of drama as it has evolved from classical Greece. Representative plays are drawn from various periods (medieval, Renaissance, Augustan, romantic, and modern) and from the major modes (tragedy, comedy, farce, realism, expressionism, and the absurdist and social theater). Selected critical works are also considered.
Enrollment Requirements: Pre-req = Graduate students in ENGL only
