PUBPOL 699 - Internship 3 Credit(s) | Internship | Graded Not repeatable for credit
Description: The internship provides an invaluable opportunity to gain substantive experience in the field of public policy, to apply material acquired in the classroom to professional work situations as well as to develop one’s leadership capacities. These internships are intended to provide training for assessing needs for government and nonprofit interventions in the private and public sector, providing support for design of new programs or redesign of existing programs, and rigorous evaluation of existing interventions.
Course Note Students will work with the instructor during the spring of their first year of classes to identify a suitable internship site for the summer after their first year. While the internship may extend over the entire inter-session break between late May and late August, this course will meet during the first summer session, and grades will be entered at the end of the second summer session. Students are expected to work a minimum of 160 hours for their internship placement over the summer, and complete other course requirements as assigned and outlined in this syllabus. The internship final presentation will take place during the last week of the second summer session.
Enrollment Requirements: Pre-requisite = Completion of PPOL-G 611, PUBPOL 620,PPOL-G 621, PUBPOL 610, PPOL-G 602 and PUBADM 602 or PPOL-G 622
