Degree Requirements
If this is the student’s only or primary major, the degree requirements below must be completed for graduation. See graduation requirements for more information.
Major Requirements
Complete at least 36 credits from 12 courses including one introductory history course, three 200-level survey courses, seven electives, and one capstone. For all courses applied toward the major, at least one course must be in pre-1800 history and at least one course must fall into four out of five geographic breadth areas.
Pass/fail: No courses taken pass/fail may be applied toward the major.
Residency: At least six courses used for the major must be completed at UMass Boston.

Electives (21 Credits)
Take seven history courses. At least four must be at the 300-level and at least one must be at the 400-level.
Pre-1800 History Requirement

At least one course from four of the five geographic breadth areas below must be used to fulfill major requirements.
