Degree Requirements

Major Requirements
Complete at least 35 credits from twelve courses including eight core courses (three introductory courses, two designated skills courses, two 200-level natural science electives, one 200-level social science elective), and four track courses (three upper-level electives and a capstone).
Major track: Students must choose from one of five major tracks: Earth and hydrological sciences, environmental policy and management, environmental science (general), geospatial analysis and modeling, and marine science.
Pass/fail: No courses taken pass/fail may be applied toward the major.
Residency: At least five environmental science courses used for the major must be completed at UMass Boston.
