Description:
This is an advanced course to the large body of research that deals with the intersection between language and society. Reading some canonical sociolinguistics works, we will explore how social and cultural categories, such as race/ethnicity, gender, and nationality, as well as institutions, including schools and governments, are created through and affected by language.
