The Program

The UMass Boston program in Vision Studies is the only such university offering in New England. Collaboration with the six state Departments of Education and State Liaisons support and promote mentoring throughout the program. Through online courses, infused with field-based experiences and practica, these specializations afford general education teachers, special educators, and practitioners in related fields an opportunity to acquire the necessary assessment, instructional, and consultation skills for working effectively with students and/or adults with visual impairment. There are three tracks:

  • Teacher of Students with Visual Impairment
  • Orientation and Mobility
