Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Science
This program addresses the theoretical and practical aspects of specifying, designing, developing, implementing, and managing geospatial information systems. It also stresses the importance of the end user in resolving information system design and data processing problems. Through this program, students improve their competencies in the areas of spatial and temporal modeling, geo-information mapping, and geo-statistical analysis, allowing them to apply these skills to a broad range of environmental modeling and analysis problems.
Certificate Requirements
The certificate program requires a series of four core courses totaling 14 credits: Admission Requirements
Applicants are required to have:
- at least one semester of undergraduate calculus or statistics (two preferred)
- at least one semester’s course work in computer applications (two preferred)
Work experience may substitute for the prerequisite in computer applications, with approval of the graduate program director.
