Degree Requirements

A doctoral degree requires the successful completion of a minimum of 54 course credits: 42 credits of coursework and a minimum of 12 dissertation credits. Students must also satisfactorily complete Qualifying Exam at the end of the 1st year, satisfactorily complete the Admission to Candidacy Exam, as well as complete and successfully defend their doctoral dissertation.

The degree must be completed within eight (8) years of the date of entry.

Although other courses may be taken as electives, students are required to choose either BUS ADM 733 or BUS ADM 734 as one of their electives choices.

Sequencing of Courses

BUSADM 700 Business in Context: Markets, Technologies, Societies

must be taken by all students in their first semester. In the final semester of coursework, all students will be required to take

BUSADM 775 Professional Development Workshop - Doctoral Teaching

and Dissertation Seminar (BUS ADM 891).

The PhD in Business Administration Admissions Committee will consider all of the above in making admissions decisions. Admission to the program is very competitive, and students are evaluated based on research interests and fit with the program.
