Degree Requirements
A doctoral degree requires the successful completion of a minimum of 54 course credits: 42 credits of coursework and a minimum of 12 dissertation credits. Students must also complete a summer project, satisfactorily complete the Admission to Candidacy Exam, as well as complete and successfully defend their doctoral dissertation.
The degree must be completed within eight (8) years of the date of entry.
Electives
The remainder of the coursework will be electives chosen in consultation with the faculty advisor. The various university centers and programs serve as additional resources for students as they craft their particular course of study. A wide variety of relevant electives are also offered through other doctoral programs on campus, particularly in public policy and global studies, as well as courses at other Boston area universities.
Sequencing of Courses must be taken by all students in their first semester. In the final semester of coursework, all students will be required to take and Dissertation Seminar (BUS ADM 891).
Admission Requirements

Candidates are evaluated on the basis of their:
- Undergraduate and any previous graduate performance
- Professional work experience
- GMAT or GRE scores
- Application essays
- Recommendations
- Interview
The PhD in Business Administration Admissions Committee will consider all of the above in making admissions decisions. Admission to the program is very competitive, and students are evaluated based on research interests and fit with the program.
